Even though it's from a reference picture I like the fact that there's still a looseness to the brush strokes. It reminds me of the impressionists of old.

Hi Sara-You sorted out the complicated shapes with ease. Great painting.

I've recently discovered your blog - I love the way you paint. I'm trying to teach myself as well and get very inspired by people like you!

Thank you Marian, I've been working hard.

That means a lot to me, Greta. Sometimes I feel like I have to fight to keep it loose.

Perry- its funny, because every time I start another painting like this I throw myself into a panic over all the complicated shapes. Its like a therapy session, holding my own hand through another clump of color while telling myself to breath...

Regina and gianluco, thank you!

Annie, Kudos from another self-taught artist! I have learned sooooo much from all the wonderful artists out there who are blogging. I started painting in oils with Kevin Macpherson's Fill Your Oil Paintings with Light and Color.
